LogoThe Morning Star (Ikhwezi Lokusa) shines out onto the lives and work of our young adults who have physical and /or mild mental disablilities, as they live out the Chrstian message of hope given through the vision of our founders,the Missionary Sisters of the Precious Blood.The SocietyThe aim of the Society is to offer the beneficiaries rehabilitation and training to prepare them for life in their environment at home. This is achieved through a skills training programme within four workshop and through ongoing assistance in learning to cope with the daily life challenges of persons with disabilities. The service users stay for up to five years. If distance is an issue, accommodation in hostels is available. Eventually they are encouraged and assisted to seek employment in the open labour market or to start their own business.VisionIkhwezi Lokusa is a Christian organisation dedicated to the promotion of interdependent living for persons who are physically and / or mildly mentally disabled through rehabilitation and skills training.Area of OperationIkhwezi Lokusa is situated about 5km from the centre of Mthatha. It is in a predominantly rural and poverty stricken area, forming part of the former Transkei known for its disadvantaged status and prevalence of disability. |
